FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MARYSVILLE – Motorists should be prepare for lane closures, detours and travel delays across 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties due to major construction projects.

Caltrans construction activity is beginning or is in progress on nearly $1.3 billion worth of major projects from replacing aging bridges and repairing deteriorating pavement to upgrading water systems at roadside safety rest areas and installing electric vehicle charging stations.

As part of a Caltrans safety initiative, speed limits will be temporarily reduced by 10 miles per hour in work zones from the posted limit. Radar speed feedback trailers will be in place along highways to remind motorists of their driving speed. The California Highway Patrol will be working in these areas to increase safety and enforce the speed limits.

“Safety is our top priority. One death on the highway is one death too many,” said Caltrans District 3 Director Amarjeet S. Benipal. “Reducing speeds will help make construction work zones safer for everyone.”
