FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SACRAMENTO — Motorists can expect the off-ramp at Garden Highway from southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) to be partially closed starting Wednesday to ensure worker safety.

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers is scheduled for levee work west of Exit 521 to Garden Highway.

Motorists will not be able to turn right at the end of the ramp from southbound I-5 April 22 through May 31. The eastbound direction of Garden Highway will remain open.

Suggested Detour:

  • Continue southbound on I-5 and exit at Richards Boulevard (Exit 520), turn left and left again to reenter northbound I-5.

  • Continue northbound (stay in right lane) to Garden Highway (Exit 521A for eastbound access).

  • For westbound Garden Highway, continue northbound I-5 to West El Camino Avenue (Exit 521B), turn left onto West El Camino to southbound Gateway Oaks Drive.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
