SACRAMENTO — Motorists can expect the onramp from southbound Howe Avenue to westbound U.S. Highway 50 to be closed one week for workers’ and motorists’ safety.

A contractor is scheduled to widen and repave the ramp beginning Monday, April 13 at   6 a.m. working through Saturday, April 18 at 6 a.m.

This $4 million project will preserve and extend the pavement life, improve the overall ride quality and the nighttime visibility with new striping and added lighting. The addition of another lane to the ramp will also help with traffic flow.

Suggested Detour:

  • From southbound Howe Avenue continue to the eastbound U.S. 50 South Lake Tahoe onramp. Take eastbound 50 to Watt Avenue (Exit 11) and turn left at Watt Avenue. Stay in the far-right lane and re-enter westbound U.S. 50.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
