FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROCKLIN – Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol, Gold Run Area are hosting a traffic safety workshop event to better prepare Sierra-bound motorists for winter travel. Caltrans and CHP continue to encounter motorists who are unprepared for inclement weather conditions, leading to an increase in collisions on the state highway system.

To increase motorist preparedness, demonstrations and information will be highlighted for event attendees:

  • Proper chain installation on vehicles;
  • Recommended vehicle supplies for winter travel;
  • The difference between R-1, R-2 and R-3 chain control levels;
  • And how to check tire tread depth before snow travel.

Preparation before driving in winter weather conditions is essential to safety on roadways and decreases fatal and injury collisions on our highways. Caltrans strongly encourages the public to attend this informative workshop.

WHEN: Sunday, February 23, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: Bass Pro Shop, 5472 Crossings Dr. Rocklin, CA 95650
