FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES – Caltrans maintenance crews will be performing emergency slide repairs on Interstate 80, necessitating permit load restrictions the week of November 25.

Recent rock slides along I-80 between the Nevada state line and Farad require repair and maintenance work before winter weather arrives. Intermittent westbound lane closures will be required Monday, November 25 and Tuesday, November 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Motorists should anticipate travel delays in the area and slow for work zones.

Westbound permit loads will not be allowed on this segment of highway during repair work. Wide-load trucks are advised to use alternate routes or wait until work is completed for the day before traveling.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
