FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES – Caltrans is nearing completion on an emergency guardrail repair job on Interstate 80 which from Boca to the Nevada state line.

The work is anticipated to be completed by November 1, barring weather delays. Eastbound motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from Boca to the Nevada state line from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should anticipate travel delays in the area and slow for work zones.

Permit loads will not be allowed on this segment of highway Thursday during repair work. Wide-load trucks are advised to use alternate routes or wait until work is completed for the day before traveling.

Maintenance crews have been replacing damaged guardrail for the last few weeks in preparation for winter. In addition, newly repaired eastbound metal beam guardrail had to be replaced a second time due to a recent big rig collision.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
