FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

I-80 EB Cisco Grove and Rainbow Ramps Scheduled for Closure

Motorists Should Use Detour Routes for Access to Eastbound Interstate 80

PLACER COUNTY – Caltrans will be closing the Interstate 80 eastbound off-ramp at Cisco Grove and the eastbound on-ramp at Rainbow Road this week for emergency repairs to the concrete slabs due to deep rutting from heavy vehicle traffic and chains in the winter.

Motorists should be advised of ramp closures during the following periods:

  • I-80 EB off-ramp at Cisco Grove
    • 7 a.m. to noon Thursday
    • 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday
  • I-80 EB on-ramp at Rainbow Road
    • 7 a.m. Thursday through 5 p.m. Friday

During the repair work, eastbound motorists may access Cisco Grove by traveling eastbound for three miles and taking the Rainbow Road exit to westbound I-80 or Hampshire Rocks Road. At Rainbow Road, eastbound motorists are advised to take Donner Pass Road eastbound toward Kingvale to resume interstate travel. Detour signs will be posted.

Caltrans and its contractor, Granite Construction Inc. of Watsonville, will be repaving as part of a project to repair on- and off-ramps in the Sierra. Pavement and drainage upgrades to the Boreal Ridge/Castle Peak westbound off-ramp were completed in September.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
