Yuba County — Motorists can expect daytime and nighttime traffic delays this week on State Highway 20 in the Smartsville area for construction activity.

Reversing one-way traffic control will be in effect from 6 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Tuesday and from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday to perform final paving work between McGanney Lane and Hammonton Smartsville Road. Motorists can expect up to 20-minute delays.

In addition, motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for pavement striping, signage work and erosion control.

The work is part of a $28.5 million safety project to straighten and flatten curves, widen shoulders, construct a new bridge, repave the roadway and improve drainage in the Smartsville area.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
