Yuba County — Motorists can expect a steady stream of large dump trucks entering and exiting State Highway 70 at Laurellen Road over the next two months.

Roadside flaggers will be monitoring truck traffic during the operation scheduled from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Monday through Saturday. Motorists should be alert for stopped traffic in the area. The trucking operation expects to continue through October.

About 305,000 cubic yards of material is being hauled to the area as part of an $82.9 million bridge replacement project over the Simmerly Slough just north of Marysville. Truckers will be making more than 300 roundtrips a day to the construction area.

Caltrans also reminds motorists the speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph in the construction area as part of a statewide work zone safety initiative. The California Highway Patrol will be in the area monitoring traffic.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
