Boreal – Caltrans will be closing the Interstate 80 westbound onramp at Castle Peak/Boreal Ridge Road for emergency repairs to the concrete slab due to deep rutting from heavy vehicle traffic and chains in the winter.Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, September 5, the onramp will be closed around the clock through Monday, September 23 for repairs. Caltrans and its contractor, Granite Construction Inc. of Watsonville, will be repaving and performing upgrades to the drainage system at the onramp.
During the repair work, motorists may resume westbound travel by heading eastbound from Boreal Ridge on I-80 for four miles and taking the Donner Lake exit. Detour signs will be posted identifying the westbound Donner Lake I-80 onramp.
Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.
