Nevada County – Caltrans is alerting motorists of planned maintenance work on Interstate 80 in the Sierra with CHP manning rolling traffic breaks to ensure highway worker safety.

Beginning Monday, July 22, Caltrans maintenance crews will be implementing intermittent lane and shoulder closures on eastbound and westbound I-80 between the Nevada state line and Floriston for a sweeping operation. Work is scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will be completed by Thursday, August 1. Motorists should anticipate travel delays during this period.

Caltrans is also closing the eastbound and westbound Donner Summit State Roadside Rest Areas (SRRA) from 8 a.m. Monday, July 22 through 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 for emergency water line repairs. The Gold Run SRRA’s located between Alta and Colfax will be open during Donner Summit maintenance work.
