Marysville  — Motorists can anticipate intermittent traffic backups on northbound State Highway 70 and eastbound State Highway 20 through Marysville during the morning and early afternoon hours today and Tuesday.

A caravan of six California Highway Patrol vehicles will be escorting big rigs hauling 166-foot-long concrete bridge girders during the morning commute, mid-morning and early afternoon hours. The big rigs will be traveling less than 10 mph through Marysville and the CHP will be temporarily blocking intersections while the caravan travels through town.

The caravan then will travel east on Highway 20 to deliver the girders to a Caltrans highway realignment and bridge construction project in the Smartsville area of Yuba County.

Weather or unexpected events may delay the caravan. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.”  The department will issue traffic updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans’ QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
