Mineral Multi-Use Path and Shoulders Project on State Route 36 in Tehama County

The Project:
The Mineral Multi-Use Path and Shoulders project is in Tehama County along State Route (SR) 36, in and near Mineral from just east of Battle Creek Bridge to just east of Route 172.
Project Benefits:
The purpose of this project is to provide improved and safe connectivity for nonmotorized users traveling between Battle Creek Campground, businesses, residences, and lodging and to provide access to other outdoor recreation opportunities throughout Mineral.
Project Includes:
This project proposes the construction of a paved multi-use path in the community of Mineral between post miles 81.6 and 83.4. In addition, the intersection of SR-36 and SR-172 will be reconfigured to improve safety and operations. Also, the westbound (WB) shoulder between SR-172 and United States Post Office will be widened to 8-ft to improve mobility. The town of Mineral has very limited infrastructure to accommodate non-vehicular mobility. Currently pedestrians and cyclists are limited to a shoulder width of 0 to 4-ft that runs along SR 36.
Current Project Schedule:
It is estimated this project will take 65 workings days, with 30 days requiring traffic control. Construction is scheduled to start between May and September 2026.
Project Funding Estimates:
Project Cost: $5.1M
