State Route 44/Silver Bridge Road Intersection Safety Project
State Route 44 | Shasta County | Post Miles 7.75 to 8.25
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The State Route 44/Silver Bridge Road Intersection Safety Project will improve safety and traffic operations by constructing a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of State Route 44 and Silver Bridge Road, replacing the existing two-way stop-controlled intersection. The roundabout is designed to reduce conflict points, improve traffic flow, and provide a safer and more efficient experience for motorists, commercial vehicles, and emergency responders.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
- Construction of a single-lane roundabout with a center island, raised concrete median, and splitter islands designed to safely accommodate large trucks and permitted vehicles.
- Realignment of State Route 44 and Silver Bridge Road approaches to connect with the new roundabout.
- Repaving portions of the roadway to improve ride quality and transition into the new intersection configuration.
- Installation of new striping, pavement markings, signage, and lighting to enhance visibility and navigation.
- Relocation of utility facilities to accommodate the new roadway layout.
- Upgrades and replacement of portions of the existing box culvert to support the new roadway design.
