Crash Responder Safety Week 2025

As part of Crash Responder Safety Week, Caltrans District 2 partnered with local first responders to highlight an important message for all drivers: Protect Those Who Protect You.

This year's campaign features a powerful video with local firefighters, law enforcement officers, tow operators, and Caltrans crews speaking directly to the public about the importance of slowing down and moving over when responders are working on the roadside. Their firsthand experiences underscore how a moment of caution can save a life.

To help share this message with the broader community, Weaverville Maintenance Supervisor Micah Crockett and Redding Fire Department Captain Aaron Dieck joined hosts Steve Gibson and Clark Schopflin on KQMS News Talk Radio. During the interview, they talked about why Crash Responder Safety Week matters, the dangers responders face, and how simple actions behind the wheel can make a major difference in keeping everyone safe.

Community members are encouraged to listen to the full conversation and learn more about how they can support responders by staying alert, slowing down, and moving over whenever they see emergency lights, hazard lights, or people working on the roadside.
