REDDING – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and J.F. Shea Construction, Inc. are preparing to begin work on a monitoring system project at Whiskey Creek Bridge on State Route 299 in Shasta County. The project will install a Bridge Safety and Structural Monitoring System to enhance functionality and extend the useful life of the bridge, in response to a nationwide inspection effort lead by the Federal Highway Administration on similar steel bridges and welds.

Construction activities are currently planned to start this month. Motorists will encounter one-way traffic control with up to 20-minute delays, Mondays – Fridays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by the end of March.
