REDDING – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and Interstate Civil Construction have begun work on a pavement marker replacement project in Shasta and Siskiyou Counties. The $359k project is replacing recessed pavement markers and restore delineation markers on concrete median barriers at the following locations:
- State Route 44 (Shasta County): From Millville Plains Road to east of Shingletown, near Mill Creek Road
- Interstate 5 (Siskiyou County): From the Shasta River Bridge 02-0148 (north of Yreka) to the Oregon State Line.
Construction activities are started earlier this week on Interstate 5 locations. When work is underway on State Route 44, motorists should plan for one-way traffic control during weekday daytime hours, with up to 20-minute delays. When work is underway on Interstate 5, motorists should plan for lane/shoulder/ramp closures in the project area. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by mid-October.
