SAN DIEGO — Caltrans will close the southbound State Route 163 (SR-163) connector to northbound I-5, the northbound State Route 163 (SR-163) connector to northbound I-5, and the northbound I-5 on-ramp at 11th Avenue on Saturday, August 1 from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. for maintenance work. Caltrans will also close the Interstate 5 (I-5) northbound off-ramp to Hawthorn Street on Saturday, August 1 from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. for maintenance work.
Motorists on the southbound SR-163 will connect to the southbound I-5, take the off-ramp to Imperial Avenue, turn left onto Imperial, and then left onto the northbound I-5.
Motorists on the northbound SR-163 will connect to the westbound I-8, and then take the connector onto the northbound I-5.
Motorists headed to Hawthorn Street will continue northbound I-5 to the Sassafras Street/India Street off-ramp. Then turn left onto Sassafras Street to southbound Pacific Highway and proceed south to West Hawthorn Street.
Motorists are reminded to be Work Zone Alert if traveling in the area and to watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.
The work schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other work-related reasons.
