IMPERIAL COUNTY — Caltrans will close State Route 86 (SR-86) for work on Daffodil Canal on the east side of SR-86 Heber from April 20 and ending on or before May 10, 2026, for pipeline construction.
Local Heber traffic traveling eastbound on SR-86 will still be able to access southbound Pitzer Road for the duration of the road closure.
Motorists and smaller delivery truck traffic will use Dogwood Road to Birch Street (State Route 98), then back north along State Route 111 (SR-111).
Large semi-truck traffic will use the same detour as passenger cars, with the addition of westbound SR-86 traffic to be routed to northbound SR-111 to Interstate 8.
Motorists are reminded to be Work Zone Alert if traveling in the area and to watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.
The work schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other work-related reasons.
