Westbound I-8 El Cajon Bridge Repair Project 80-Hour Lane Closure

SAN DIEGO —Construction crews may close up to three lanes of westbound Interstate 8 from West Main Street to Loren Drive from 9 p.m. Friday, January 5 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, for crews to complete bride desk work at the El Cajon Boulevard undercrossing.

During the hours from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., at least three lanes will be open. Between the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., crews may have only one lane open. At no time will all four freeway lanes close.

Caltrans traffic engineers will monitor freeway traffic during this work. If traffic becomes heavy, some westbound motorists will be detoured to northbound State Route 67, westbound State Route 52, southbound State Route 125, and westbound I-8.

The maintenance work schedule is subject to change due to weather, traffic incidents, or other maintenance considerations. Travelers are reminded to watch for highway workers and moving equipment and to Be Work Zone Alert.

Motorists are reminded to be Work Zone Alert if traveling in the area and to watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.
