I-805 South Bridge Safety and Sound Walls Project
Project Overview
The I-805 South Bridge Safety and Sound Walls project, part of a $33 million initiative to enhance the transportation infrastructure along this segment of the I-805 corridor, includes the addition of auxiliary lanes, bridge safety improvements, and sound walls. Additionally, crews will add auxiliary lanes on northbound I-805 from Naples Street undercrossing to Telegraph Canyon Road undercrossing and an auxiliary lane on southbound I 805 at Naples Street undercrossing. These lanes will allow drivers to speed up and slow down more safely when merging on or off the freeway.
With the addition of these auxiliary lanes, crews must also make bridge safety improvements at both the Telegraph Canyon Road and East Naples Street locations. These improvements will upgrade safety barriers to current code requirements and ensure that the bridges can support the additional weight of vehicles traveling along the interstate. Retaining walls will also be constructed near the Telegraph Canyon Road undercrossing and the Naples Street undercrossing bridges.
Goals
- Preserve and enhance I-805 Corridor by revitalizing and constructing essential infrastructure.
- Improve infrastructure performance and longevity by modernizing assets.
- Enhance safety by supporting regional mobility, and sustainability through comprehensive corridor improvements. to increase accessibility for all travelers.
