Caltrans To Begin Sidewalk Project In Waterford

Published:

WATERFORD – Caltrans will begin a project next week on State Route 132 in Waterford that will construct new sidewalks and upgrade existing sidewalks between Reinway Avenue and F Street/Hickman Road.

The purpose of the project is to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility, as well as sidewalk continuity, while bringing this segment of the highway into compliance with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

The project will install 1,300 feet of new sidewalk, curbs, and gutters on the south side of the highway between Western Avenue and Hickman Road; install 290 feet of new sidewalk, curbs, and gutters on the north side between Reinway Avenue and Pasadena Avenue; and replace 1,770 feet of existing sidewalk, curbs, and gutters within the project limits. Upgrades will also be made to eight driveways and 36 curb ramps, and accessible pedestrian signals will be installed at the intersections of Reinway Avenue, Western Avenue and Hickman Road.

This project is scheduled to begin the week of February 12 – February 16, 2024, with completion expected in fall 2024.

During construction, there will be various lane closures between Reinway Avenue and F Street/Hickman Road, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Motorists should expect 5 to 10-minute delays.

Caltrans will use changeable message signs to alert motorists as they approach the work zone.

This $12,898,000 project will be performed by Bay Cities Paving & Grading, Inc (Concord, CA).

Future traffic advisories and social media posts will provide all scheduled highway and city street closure locations, dates, and details.
