Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures
Interstate 5 And State Routes 99 & 140
MERCED COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) and State Route 99 (SR-99) and SR-140 for maintenance and construction operations. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:
Interstate 5
Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through October 31, 2024.
• ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use either the Westley Rest Area (San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line) or the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line). Electric vehicle charging stations are available at the Westley Rest Area.
State Route 99
One-way traffic control on the Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, July 28, through Friday, August 2, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
One-way traffic control on the Childs Avenue Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, July 28, through Friday, August 2, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
One-way traffic control on the Franklin Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, July 28, through Friday, August 2, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, July 28, through Friday, August 2, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, July 28, through Friday, August 2, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Plainsburg Road for crack and seal operations beginning Monday, July 29, through Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Full on-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at Plainsburg Road for crack and seal operations on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Full on and off-ramp closures on northbound SR-99 at Westside Boulevard for crack and seal operations on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
State Route 140
One-way traffic control on the Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, July 28, through Friday, August 2, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
One-way traffic control at the Los Banos Creek for bridge work beginning Monday, July 29, through Thursday, August 1, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday, August 2, 2024, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Long-term full closure from 5th Street to Fifth Avenue in Gustine for construction work beginning Monday, April 22, 2024, at 6:00 a.m. to Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. This work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
