Pavement Work on SR 152 & I-5 Interchange Next Week
Merced County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will have traffic controls in place on Interstate 5 (I-5) and full ramp closures at the State Route (SR-152) / I-5 Interchange next week in Merced County.

Caltrans Maintenance Crews will be performing needed pavement resurfacing work at the I-5/SR-152 Interchange near Los Banos to safeguard the roadway for motorists and avoid future long-term traffic impacts to the traveling public.
As a result of the pavement work next week, Caltrans will have full closures in place for the northbound I-5 to westbound SR-152 on/off ramps and the southbound I-5 to eastbound & westbound SR-152 on/off ramps. The work is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Additionally, Caltrans will have alternating lane closures in place on northbound I-5 for paving work next week. The work is scheduled as follows:
- Alternating #2 lane closure from the CHP truck scales to the Delta Mendota on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Alternating #2 lane closure from the Cottonwood Road Over-Crossing to Garzas Creek on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Caltrans is advising motorists of potential traffic delays, to exercise patience, and if needed seek alternative routes. Highway overhead and portable message signs will be activated to alert the traveling public of scheduled lane and ramp closures and traffic detours.
