One-Way Traffic Control and Full Highway Closure Next Week

Calaveras County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will have traffic controls in place for the following construction and maintenance activities on State Route 4 (SR-4), SR-26, and SR-49 in Calaveras County next week. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

State Route 4

  • One-way traffic control from Mitchler Avenue to Big Trees Road Road for utility work on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

State Route 26

  • Long-term full highway closure at the West Side of SR-26/49 Intersection from Main Street to SR-49 for highway construction work beginning Monday, August 24, at 7:00 a.m. through Monday, November 9, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.
  • Conventional highway lane closures from the Calaveras/Amador County Line to the South Fork Mokelumne River for tree work beginning Sunday, August 30, through Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

State Route 49

  • Overnight conventional highway lane closures from South Bret Harte to Copello Drive for pavement work beginning Sunday, August 30, through Friday, September 4, 2026, from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • Conventional highway lane closures from South Bret Harte to Copello Drive for pavement work beginning Monday, August 31, through Thursday, August 3, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Overnight alternating lane closures from Angels Road to Treat Avenue for utility work beginning Monday, August 31, through Friday, September 4, 2026, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • One-way traffic control from Stockton Hill Road to Center Street for tree work beginning Tuesday, September 1, through Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
