Highway Lane & Full Closures on State Routes 4 & 88
Alpine County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform the following highway closures on State Route 88 (SR-88) for construction and maintenance work next week within Alpine County. Work will occur as follows:
State Route 4
- Full highway closure from the Calaveras/Alpine County line to Raymond Meadows for drainage work beginning Monday, July 20, through Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Alternating lane closures from the Calaveras/Alpine County line to the East Carson River Bridge for drainage work beginning Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Alternating lane closures from Jackass Gulch Bridge to East Carson River for bridge work beginning Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
State Route 88
- One-way traffic control from the West Fork Carson River Bridge to Crystal Springs West for tree work on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
