Caltrans To Begin Work to Rehabilitate 20 Bridges On Interstate 5 In Stanislaus County

Published:

Stanislaus County The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin work to rehabilitate 20 bridges at 11 locations within a 20-mile span of Interstate 5 (I-5) in Stanislaus County.

Most of the work will be performed at night, Sundays through Fridays from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., and require single-lane closures. Weekly county-wide traffic advisories on District 10’s social media will detail specific work zone locations and closures.

Crews will begin construction at Fink Road in Crows Landing and continue north to Kahalsa Road in Vernalis. The work will vary by location but includes the replacement of bridge decks, approach slabs, bump connections, joint seals, guardrails, dikes, and drains. Polyester Concrete overlay will also be added to bridge decks and columns will be restored.

The project is scheduled to begin the week of May 27, 2024, with completion expected in December 2024.

Flaggers and/or roadside message signs at the construction site will alert motorists of lane closures.

Schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, equipment and/or materials availability, and construction-related issues.

Myers & Sons Construction, LLC of Sacramento, CA will perform this $12.7 million project.
