Project Will Repair and Replace Culverts & Drainage Systems
Stockton – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin a maintenance project that will improve the highway drainage systems along State Routes 12 (SR-12), SR-26, SR-108, and SR-120 in Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties.
Work will include the rehabilitation and replacement of 15 culverts in Calaveras County and 23 culverts in Tuolumne County. Alternating lane closures will be required for the safety of motorists, roadway workers and equipment.
Beginning Monday, January 26, 2026, crews will primarily work night shifts from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., for approximately 120 working days - Sundays through Fridays - with completion expected in August 2026. Roadside message signs will be placed along the highway to alert motorists of scheduled lane closures.
This $2.5 million project was awarded to Wylatti Resource Management, Inc. (Covelo, CA), who will perform the work required. This project will improve and safeguard the highway infrastructure for motorists traveling in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties
The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
