Caltrans To Begin Construction To Replace Culverts On Highway 49

Published:

TUOLUMNE COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin a project to replace two culverts on State Route 49.

Culverts are drainage systems underneath California’s Highway System that safely channel stormwater to prevent roadbed erosion and limit the risk of flooding. This project will replace culverts along SR-49 south of the State Route 108 junction west of Jamestown, and at Tuttletown Road in Tuttletown.

Work is scheduled to begin the week of July 8, 2024, and is expected to conclude in September.

During work, one-way traffic control will occur Mondays through Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

This estimated $254,290 project will be performed by Quimu Contracting Inc. of Dixon, CA.

Motorists should be prepared for 10-minute delays. Schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, equipment and materials availability, and other construction-related issues.
