Grace Magsayo To Lead District 10
Stockton – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is pleased to announce Grace B. Magsayo as the new Caltrans District 10 Director in Stockton. As Director, Grace Magsayo assumed the responsibility in November, 2024, of overseeing more than 3,500 lane miles of highways in eight counties including the Valley Area of Merced, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin counties (including the cities of Merced, Modesto, and Stockton; Major Routes I-5, 12, 59, 99, 132, 140, 152, and I-205), along with the Mountain Region of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa counties (Major Routes 4, 16, 49, 88, 108, 120, and 140).
She is the Caltrans board member on the San Joaquin Council of Governments and the Stanislaus Council of Governments. As District Director, Magsayo oversees the programs of: Transportation Planning, Local Assistance and Environmental; Administration; Program, Project and Asset Management; Maintenance and Traffic Operations. She is responsible for more than 800 employees and over 1,400 highway miles covering four Sierra passes, three rest areas, 29 cities with numerous transit authority partners. She is also responsible for an annual budget of approximately $191 million and over $462 million worth of programs and highway construction.
Prior to accepting the District 10 Director role, Magsayo served as Acting Director since January of this year. During her 26-year career with Caltrans she has worked as a Design Manager, Project Manager, and most recently as the Deputy District Director for Program, Project, and Asset Management, prior to her term as Acting District 10 Director.
Some of Grace’s most notable and complex projects were her leadership roles in the State Route 140 Ferguson Emergency Opening, State Route 140 Ferguson Rockshed, State Route 108 North County Corridor, State Route 132 West Phase 1, and the State Route 4 Wagon Trail projects.
Grace graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and began her professional career as a junior civil engineer for a firm in the Bay Area.
