Caltrans District 10 Chain Installer Orientation, Training & Permitting

STOCKTON, CA The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is currently recruiting for winter season Chain Installers. Individuals interested in becoming a Caltrans District 10 Chain Installer are invited to call (209) 693-3895 for additional information. Caltrans has permits available for State Routes 4 (SR-4), SR-88, SR-89, SR-108, SR-120, and SR-207 in Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne Counties.

 

New applicants are required to attend a Chain Installer Orientation Class which will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. in the Caltrans Mountain Region Office located at 98 South Main Street, Angels Camp, CA 95222. The class will consist of a performance and written exam, and applicants must pass both exams to obtain a Chain Installer permit.

 

Returning Caltrans District 10 chain Installers, with no prior violations, can renew their permits immediately by calling (209) 693-3895. Caltrans District 10 Chain Installer permits cost $324.00, the price is valid through December 31, 2024. Calaveras County requires a business license for all applicants interested in working on State Route 4.
