Bryan Beyer has more than 20 years of professional experience conducting and managing audits and investigations. In his current role as Inspector General, Mr. Beyer leads the Independent Office of Audits and Investigations and is responsible for maintaining a full scope, independent, and objective audit and investigative program focused on the Department of Transportation as well as external entities that receive state and federal transportation funds from the department. Mr. Beyer is also responsible for evaluating the department’s outreach efforts that are intended to increase procurement opportunities for small businesses, including those that are owned by women, minorities, disabled veterans, LGBT, and other disadvantaged groups.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Beyer served as Chief Deputy Inspector General of California’s Office of the Inspector General, where he managed the office’s provision of independent, transparent oversight of California’s prison system. Mr. Beyer also served as Director of the Division of Internal Oversight and Research at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. As Director, he managed the offices of Internal Affairs and Civil Rights, Audits and Court Compliance, and Research. Mr. Beyer was also an auditor and a supervising auditor at the California State Auditor’s Office where he completed numerous audits of state programs and departments. His past audit assignments involved, among others, standardized student testing, military readiness, and emergency preparedness.

Mr. Beyer graduated from California State University, Chico, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Accounting and received an Executive Certificate in Public Leadership from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Mr. Beyer is a Certified Inspector General through the Association of Inspectors General and serves as Vice President of the Western States Chapter of the Association of Inspectors General.
