On page 12 of the specials in Section 39 Hot Mix Asphalt under “Replace section 39-1.12E of the RSS for section 39-1.12 with:”
The contractor is directed to profilograph the existing roadway, determine must-grind areas and complete must-grinds prior to repaving.

There are no provisions stated for measurement or payment of this work.

Please provide a bid item for Prepaving Profilograph (390010) and another bid item for Prepaving Grinding Day (390020).

Unless Caltrans adds these items it will be impossible for the contractor to quantify and bid this work correctly.

Inquiry #2:
Upon finishing the site visit on this project it has come to our attention that there is an existing centerline rumble strip from PM 80.3 to 92.3. Is it Caltrans intent for the contractor to pave over the existing rumble strip without first milling it out and replacing the milled out section? Also there is no direction in the bid documents to replace the rumble strip. Please advise.

Inquiry #3: On Page 7 of the Special Provisions, it shows reversible control only allowed at night from 7 pm to 5 am. Is it the States intention for this project to be night work?

Inquiry #4: What exactly are we preparing the lead compliance plan to address? There does not appear to be any yellow thermoplastic striping in the project limits, nor are there are any striping removals, only markers.
