Caltrans To Begin Bridge Maintenance Project On State Route 4/Crosstown Freeway In Stockton

San Joaquin County – Caltrans is preparing to begin a bridge preventative maintenance project to make necessary repairs at seven bridge locations on State Route 4 (SR-4)/Crosstown Freeway in Stockton.

Work will vary per location and will include the repair of existing bridge deck concrete, installation of polyester concrete overlays, and the replacement of various joint seals and bridge deck approach and departure slabs. Work will occur at the following locations;

This $3.96 million project is scheduled to begin the week of April 29-May 3, 2024, (weather permitting) with completion expected in October 2024.

The majority of work is to be performed during night-time hours and will require lane and ramp closures. Caltrans will have roadside signage and/or changeable message signs alerting motorists of the closures.

Lane Closure Details:

  • Overnight, short-term, single-lane closures will be required on eastbound and westbound SR-4/Crosstown Freeway at various locations from Interstate 5 to Main Street.
  • Various on and off-ramp closures on SR-4/Crosstown Freeway will be required at the construction locations. Detours will be provided during these ramp closures.
  • Future traffic advisories, social media posts and road sign signage will alert motorists of upcoming lane and ramp closure dates.

This maintenance project is scheduled for 130 working days and will be performed by McCuen Construction, Inc. (Loomis, CA.)
