Advance Planning
The Advance Planning Branch develops Project Initiation Documents (PIDs) for projects on the State Highway System and provides quality assurance review of local agency PIDs. PIDs must be developed and approved by Caltrans before any major (greater than $1 million) or high complexity project can be programmed and constructed on the State Highway System.

Study Area
The CMCP covers approximately 70 miles of the I-80 corridor from the Carquinez Bridge in Solano County, through Yolo County and ending at the junction of SR 51 in Sacramento County, as well as a short segment of US 50 between I-80 and I-5.
