State Route 39 Repairs Making Headway

One-way Traffic Control Continues Through February 2024

Angeles National Forest- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) advises one-way traffic control with flagging will continue at various points on State Route 39 (San Gabriel Canyon Road) through February 2024 as we progress with repairs to multiple sections that were severely damaged by storms from last winter.

Caltrans District 7 and the contractor continue to make excellent progress on emergency repairs. At multiple locations, cable-mesh has been installed on slopes to retain rock and slide debris during future storms and drains, metal beam guardrails, and a retaining wall have been replaced.

Repairs to slopes, drainage, and washed-out roadway will continue at post mile 23.5 and post mile 32.75. Lanes have been shifted to provide a designated construction area for safety, but one-way traffic control with flagging should be expected to continue at post mile 23.5 and post mile 32.75 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday on State Route 39 through February 2024. There may be several days, still to be determined, when post mile 23.5 will be under temporary 24-hour traffic control.

Holiday schedule: All lanes of San Gabriel Canyon Road will remain open in both directions from December 23, 2023 through January 2, 2024 for the holidays.

Caltrans thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as we continue repairs. For updates go to https://twitter.com/CaltransDist7 .
