FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

State Route 39 – One-way Traffic Control Continues

 Through the End of December

Angeles National Forest- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) advises one-way traffic control with flagging will continue at various points on State Route 39 (San Gabriel Canyon Road) through the end of 2023 as we progress with repairs to multiple sections that were severely damaged by storms from last winter.

This week traffic control continues near post mile 19.2 and post mile 32.75.

On Monday, November 13, workers will temporarily shift traffic lanes away from the washout areas at post mile 23.5 and post mile 32.75 to create more work space for construction and to install K-rail on the upslope side of the roadway. Workers will also re-stripe and repave lanes. All work is expected to be completed in one day. The closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:

One-way traffic control with flagging on Monday, November 13:

·       On San Gabriel Canyon Road at post mile 32.75 the contractor will shift lanes, install K-rail and re-stripe lanes starting at 7 a.m. The operation is expected to move down to post mile 23.5 by 12 p.m.

·       On San Gabriel Canyon Road at post mile 23.5 the contractor will cut and remove asphalt, repave and restripe lanes, and install K-rail. Work is expected to be completed by 6 p.m.

Construction and one-way traffic control with flagging are expected to continue at various locations on State Route 39 through the end of December. There will be a period of time, still to be determined, when post mile 23.5 will be under temporary 24-hour traffic control.

Holiday schedule: All lanes of San Gabriel Canyon Road will remain open in both directions on Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 10 and also for the week of Thanksgiving: Monday, November 20 through Friday, November 24.
