Weekend Closures of State Route 12 in Santa Rosa Canceled
Various closures were scheduled from late Friday, February 2, until early morning, February 5, 2024
Due to the inclement weather, Caltrans has canceled the State Route 12 closures scheduled for this weekend. (See the January 30 Traffic Advisory below for reference.)
Even if the rain abates before the weekend, the wet weather in the upcoming days will hinder preparations for the large-scale work of demolishing and pouring concrete slabs.
The work will be rescheduled for another weekend, possibly Friday night, February 23, through early morning, Monday, February 26, 2024. Caltrans will keep the public updated as more information about forthcoming closures becomes available.

Two Consecutive Nights and Days
SONOMA COUNTY – As part of a pavement, approach slab and concrete slab replacement project, Caltrans has scheduled overnight weekend highway closures and daytime weekend lane closures on westbound State Route 12 (SR-12) in Santa Rosa. The project limits on westbound SR-12 extend from Santa Rosa Avenue to Dutton Avenue.
All work is contingent on weather. Caltrans will provide additional information if work is postponed or canceled due to rain.
SR-12 Full Highway Closures-Two Weekend Nights-
Overnight full highway closures on westbound SR-12 are NOT continuous and are scheduled to be in effect starting Friday, February 2 at 8:00 PM until 8:00 AM on Saturday, February 3.
A second weekend night of full highway closures on westbound SR-12 is also scheduled on Saturday, February 3, from 8:00 PM until 8:00 AM on Sunday, February 4.
The Westbound 12 to Northbound 101 onramp and Northbound 101 to Westbound 12 onramp will be closed.
SR-12 Lane Closures-Two Weekend Days
During daytime shifts (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.), one of the two traffic lanes on westbound SR-12 will be closed. Motorists traveling on westbound SR-12 between Santa Rosa Avenue and Dutton Avenue should prepare for significant delays or choose an alternate route.
The weekend closures are necessary for worker and public safety and will allow Caltrans to accelerate the demolition and reconstruction of concrete pavement slabs, which would take weeks or months to complete during typical overnight closures.
The slab replacement is part of a larger project to rehabilitate a three-mile stretch of SR-12 between Farmers Lane and Llano Road and in Santa Rosa, which began in June 2023.
