Closes in October and November, a total of 15 days for inspections
CONTRA COSTA & MARIN counties - Caltrans will close the bicycle lane on the I-580 Richmond-San Rafael Bridge in October and November 2023 to allow Caltrans crews to inspect the bridge and bike lane as required by regulations.
Closures will occur Mondays through Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM on selected weeks.
Closures:
October 2 – 6; 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
October 9 – 13; 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
November 6 – 10; 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
The bike lane on the bridge is bidirectional, located on the upper deck, or westbound, direction of the bridge.
During the closure, Caltrans will operate a bike shuttle to transport cyclists and their bikes. Pickup/drop-off stations will be located at each end of the bridge: In Richmond at the Stenmark Drive bridge entrance and in San Rafael at the Vista Point.
Caltrans staff will be stationed at each location to coordinate pickups and drop-offs with the shuttle operator.
