MARIN COUNTY — The Marin-Sonoma Narrows B-7 construction project continues in January 2024 with electrical work, which requires ramp closures on Northbound and Southbound US-101 in and near Novato.

Map showing US-101 north of Novato and near Olompali State Historical Park in Marin County. The San Antonio Road on-ramp on Northbound US-101 is scheduled to be closed Thursday, Jan. 4 from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5.

Drivers should get on Southbound US-101 and take the Atherton Avenue off-ramp and turn back on to Northbound US-101.

The Atherton Avenue on-ramp will be closed on Friday, Jan. 5 from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 6.

Drivers should travel to Redwood Boulevard and get on the Southbound US-101 on-ramp at De Long Avenue.

Daytime access near San Antonio Road and Atherton Avenue will be available for drivers. All work depends on weather. In case of rain, work will be completed the week of Jan. 8.

This is the last remaining High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane construction project as part of the 16-mile US-101 Marin-Sonoma Narrows (MSN) program. This project will complete and allow continuous HOV lanes on US-101 from Sausalito in Marin County to Windsor in Sonoma County. HOV lanes are scheduled to be open to use in the summer of 2025.

Construction includes widening US-101 to install HOV lanes for 3.5 miles along the northbound lanes from North Novato to the Marin, Sonoma line, and for 6.3 miles along the southbound lanes from De Long Avenue to the county line.

On June 10, 2023, Caltrans diverted Southbound US-101 traffic onto new elevated lanes spanning San Antonio Creek to just north of Atherton Avenue in Novato. This was a major milestone for the project.
