Nightly Lane Closures on Southbound US-101 for Work on Richardson Bridge Project in Marin County

MARIN COUNTY — Caltrans will continue work on the Richardson Bridge project along US-101 southbound in August. Construction for the project will involve the replacement of the existing asphalt concrete bridge deck surface with new concrete on US-101 at Richardson Bay Bridge in Sausalito and Mill Valley.

Map showing the location on US 101 of the Richardson Bridge Project in Marin County.As many as three lanes near Richardson Bridge are scheduled to be closed on US-101 southbound from Monday, August 14 through Friday, August 18 between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day. At least one lane will be open for traffic.

The bicycle lane on the US-101 southbound shoulder will be shut down during construction hours. Cyclists can take a detour onto US-101 northbound to Frontage Road, turn on Hamilton Drive and then onto the Mill Valley Sausalito bike path. Detour signs will be posted.

Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be on-site during the closures.

Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels. All work is dependent on weather. There will be some noise and dust in the area due to the project.
