Nightly Lane Closures on US-101, Northbound, Southbound in Marin County as PG&E Performs Gas Line Work near Novato

Published:

Workdays: Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30

MARIN COUNTY — Caltrans will close the far-left lane at night on US-101 near Novato from Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30 to assist PG&E with its gas line work near the median of the freeway.

Lane Closures
US-101 Northbound, Friday, April 28 from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturday morning
US-101 Southbound, Saturday, April 29 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sunday morning
US-101 Northbound, Sunday, April 30 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday morning

The work is necessary because of a Redwood Boulevard landslide, which occurred in March due to the recent storms.

PG&E has been working on the northern portion of the slide area.

Traffic is not expected to be majorly impacted during the lane closures, but drivers should slow down in the construction zone.

On March 21, there was a landslide detected near Redwood Boulevard and Buck Center Drive in Marin County.

Later that month, PG&E built a temporary bypass that avoided the impacted slope and ensured safe operations ahead of an upcoming storm. US-101 southbound was shut down on the weekend of March 25.

Bicycle through-access parallel to US-101 near Novato and Petaluma will continue to be closed as Caltrans and PG&E continue activities related to the landslide area on Redwood Boulevard. Redwood is closed to all bicycle and vehicle traffic during repairs. For more on the bike closure, see https://dot.ca.gov/caltrans-near-me/district-4/d4-news/2023-04-24-marin-bike-path-closure

Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be on-site during the closures.

Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.
