(Overnight Closures Only)

OAKLAND / ALAMEDA COUNTY – Caltrans has scheduled to close the westbound Interstate 580/eastbound Interstate 80 interchange in Oakland overnight Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28, and again on Monday, May 1 and Tuesday, May 2.

The four overnight closures will begin at 11 p.m. and end at 5:30 a.m. the next morning. The closures are taking place at the junction where motorists heading westbound on I-580 from Oakland to the East Bay would ordinarily bear right to get on eastbound Interstate 80.

To detour, instead of bearing right, motorists should continue straight toward the toll plaza, then enter the toll plaza parking lot, make a U-turn and get on eastbound Interstate 80 to Berkeley.

The closures are overnight only and are taking place to accommodate paving work for a smoother ride for motorists. Caltrans realizes this closure will impact the traveling public and thanks drivers for their patience during these four overnight closures.

California Highway Patrol officers and signage will be on hand to guide motorists. Detours are as follows:

Detour:
From westbound I-580, continue driving forward toward toll plaza
Enter toll plaza parking lot, following signs
Make U-turn onto eastbound I-80
Take eastbound I-80 to Berkeley
