Sacramento – Caltrans is continuing with overnight lane closures this week for the U.S. Highway 50 Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project lasting into the early morning hours.
Crews have begun removing all striping and pavement markers on the WX section of eastbound US-50 to push traffic to the north side (far left) and work on the south side (far right and shoulder) of the highway. This work will continue through March 18. Once the shift is completed, traffic will remain in this configuration through July.
SCHEDULE AND LOCATIONS:
Westbound US-50 from 26th Street to I-5 connector
Tonight, March 14, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Striping and pavement work on lanes #1 and #2.
Friday, March 15 through Saturday, March 16, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Shift median K-Rail and place barrels.
Eastbound US-50 from I-5 connector to 26th Street
Saturday, March 16 through Monday, March 18, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Remove K-Rail and striping.
Sunday, March 17 to Monday, March 18, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Striping work behind k-rail.
The ongoing work is part of a $460 million project to rehabilitate pavement on Highway 50 from the U.S. 50/Interstate 5 interchange to the U.S. 50/Watt Avenue interchange.
Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and should be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement.
