Yolo County – Caltrans has scheduled nighttime construction work on Reed Avenue and West Capitol Avenue as part of a $280 pavement rehabilitation project on Interstate 80 (I-80) and U.S. Highway 50 (US-50) in Yolo County.
Nearby residents can expect loud construction noises. Motorists should expect delays and plan for additional travel time.
The scheduled work is for pile driving to widen the Reed Avenue and West Capitol Avenue bridges. Piles will be driven in the median of the local streets between the existing eastbound and westbound bridges on I-80. The work area is currently protected by K-rail on both sides of the streets.
The overall project area is 1.4 miles east of Mace Boulevard to east of Harbor Point Boulevard with a daily schedule from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. One lane will remain open while the work is being done.
Scheduled Dates and Location:
From Wednesday, November 27th through Friday, December 8th, at Reed Ave.
From Monday, December 11 through Friday, December 22 at West Capital.
The $280 million project includes $47 million from Senate Bill (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
The speed limit has been reduced to 55 miles per hour on Interstate 80 through the work zone 24/7 for the safety of workers and motorists. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” – someone’s loved one is at work.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
