Emergency Repairs Continue on U.S. 50; Utility Work Continues on State Route 28

EL DORADO/PLACER COUNTY – Caltrans is advising motorists of continued traffic-interfering work on State Route 28 and U.S. Highway 50 within the Lake Tahoe Basin next week.

Emergency asphalt concrete repairs are scheduled to continue along U.S. 50 in South Lake Tahoe starting Monday, October 2. Lane shifts are expected between Friday Avenue and Al Tahoe Boulevard, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In North Lake Tahoe, Southwest Gas and its contractor, Q&D Construction, will continue work on a gas line replacement project on Highway 28 between Tahoe City and Kings Beach from Sunday, October 1 at 7 p.m. until Friday, October 6 at 2 p.m.

Motorists should expect:

  • Bi-directional traffic control with a lane shift between the Onyx Street and Center Street.
  • One-way traffic control, between Center Street and Ridgewood Road.
    • A full road closure will be in place 1 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 5.
  • One-way traffic control between Sierra Terrace Road and County Road W/Jackpine Street.
  • Bi-directional traffic control with a lane shift between the Tahoe State Recreation Area entrance and the junction with Highway 89.

Motorists could encounter delays of up to 30 minutes. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends. Schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment or material availability or other unexpected events.
