State Highway 28 Gas Line Replacement Work Updates

Placer County – Caltrans is alerting motorists of location shifts starting next week for traffic-interfering work on State Highway 28 for a utility project.

Southwest Gas and its contractor, Q&D Construction, are working on a gas line replacement project on Highway 28 between Tahoe City and Kings Beach. 

Work will be occurring between Onyx Street and Center Street in Carnelian Bay from Sunday, July 16 at 7 p.m. until Friday, July 21 at 8 a.m. Traffic will be bi-directional for the entire week, however, flaggers may need to stop traffic for brief periods throughout. Traffic will not be stopped anytime between the hours of  3 p.m. – 7 p.m. each weekday. No work is scheduled on the weekend. 

In addition, work will be occurring between Pino Grande Avenue and National Avenue in Tahoe Vista from Sunday, July 16 at 7 p.m. until Friday, July 21 at 8 a.m. Traffic will be bi-directional for the entire week, however, flaggers may need to stop traffic for brief periods throughout. Traffic will not be stopped anytime between the hours of  3 p.m. – 7 p.m. each weekday. No work is scheduled on the weekend.

Motorists could encounter occasional delays of up to 30 minutes or longer in the construction zones. Around-the-clock work should be expected at various locations this season from 7 p.m. Sundays until 8 a.m. Fridays to expedite completion of this project. Work will be suspended on weekends and the Labor Day holiday.
