Alternating Closures of I-80 Donner Summit Rest Areas Scheduled for Maintenance Work

Nevada County – Caltrans is alerting Interstate 80 (I-80) motorists to expect alternating closures of the Donner Summit Safety Roadside Rest Areas (SRRA) next week for maintenance activities.

The I-80 eastbound SRRA will be closed Monday, September 12 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On Tuesday, September 13, the I-80 westbound SRRA will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The schedule is subject to change due to weather, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.

Caltrans maintenance crews will be restriping the rest area parking lots and performing litter removal and various other maintenance activities. During the temporary closures, I-80 motorists are advised to use the Gold Run SRRA’s, approximately 34 miles west of Donner Summit.
