SACRAMENTO COUNTY — Nightly Construction work on the FixSac5 project continues in Sacramento County showing that the 2021 construction season is again in full swing.
Crews are scheduled for pavement removal throughout the project area from Elk Grove to the American River. The work is necessary to construct new lanes that have deteriorated over the years. Nearby residents should expect loud construction type noise.
Daily Schedule:
• 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday with some weekend work.
• Daytime work will be done behind k-rail and will not restrict lanes.
The work is part of the $370 million FixSac5 Project, which includes rehabilitating 67-lane miles of roadway, building 23 miles of carpool lanes, adding sound walls and improving the existing electrical and drainage systems.
Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and should be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 MPH and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement. When weather permits, crews work in the construction zone during the day and night, and the speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph for the safety of workers and motorists. The speed limit will be enforced 24/7. Caltrans advices motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” – someone’s loved one is at work.
Work is scheduled to begin as listed but subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials, and construction related issues.
