FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROSEVILLE – Caltrans is alerting motorists of a temporary suspension of the ramp metering system on the westbound Interstate 80 on-ramp at Atlantic Street for approximately one year.

Beginning Monday, April 19, ramp metering will be suspended due to ongoing electrical work and major construction activities on the on-ramp. The metering system eventually will be reactivated with metering in place for all three future lanes of the on-ramp.

This $12 million project is expanding the width of the existing single-lane Atlantic Street/Eureka Road/Interstate 80 westbound onā€ramp to include three lanes and is replacing the existing Miner’s Ravine Bridge to support the newly widened roadway. The project is expected to reduce significant traffic backup and improve operations on local streets and intersections.

A portion of the nearby Miner’s Ravine trail is also closed for construction activities through October for the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians. A bicycle and pedestrian detour on local streets is available during the trail closure.

Caltrans reminds motorists to Be Work Zone Alert and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements. Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans’ QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
